Love, love, love....

Last Friday, July 25th, my baby sister got married. She is now Emily Kathrine Foggin! Joshua is a wonderful man, and I know they will have many happy years together. I am so proud of them. My whole family was in the wedding...Scarlet was just for looks, though. We were decked out in pink and orange, as you can see.

The ceremony was sweet and beautiful. and the reception was at Oakhurst Country Club (so gorgeous).
Slade did pretty well, but got a bit antsy during picture time!
And how fun is this?? Cupcakes, not cake!

Life has been busy, but mostly with wedding stuff. Now, as my mother just pointed out, I go back to work in less than 30 days, and that is scaring me to death. I cannot believe it, and I am going to miss my kids so much. Even though sometimes I want to tear my hair out, strand by strand, they are truly the best way to spend the day, and the best things I have ever done in my entire life.

Star Wars and other stuff....

Yesterday, my sweet husband told me he loved reading what I write here, so I will try to do it more often. Things have been busy, but only the kind of busy where you can't really pinpoint one big event that is taking up all your time. I have three big events that take up my days (Spencer, Slade, and Scarlet!). Of course, as my sister's wedding draws near, next Friday to be exact, things are getting slightly more hectic, but that stuff seems fun.

Slade has decided to take after Spencer in that he is becoming a Jedi Knight. Spencer so graciously decided that he would give Slade one of his light sabers (we shall see how long that is in effect), so Slade has taken to carrying it just like Spencer. The difference, however, is quite evident, as you can see below. I laughed so hard the first time I saw him, I cried.

The summer seems to be flying by, literally. I feel as though I blink and not only a day has passed, but we are in yet another new week. I have 5 weeks left of my maternity leave, and it has been so wonderful. I am truly worried about going back to work. Not worried because I can't do the job, but worried more about the schedule, and I HATE thinking of leaving Scarlet at daycare. I know they do a good job, and strangely, I am not worried about Slade. Probably because he is bigger, he can tell you what he wants (for sure!), and he is engaged in singing and reading and playing and with friends while he is there, not to mention that he will be in pre-k this year, so it's kind of like his senior year! I am worried about Scarlet's schedule because it is so great right now, and she is so happy all the time. That is one thing that I am banking on...the fact that she is easygoing, so maybe after a little tiny transition when I first start back to work, things will go like clockwork. I will miss things like right now when she is sitting in her jumperoo that she loves and just watching me and when she catches my eye, she cracks the biggest smile.

Now that she knows she can get our attention with her sweet voice, she doesn't hesitate, and all these big people come running to see what she needs...her brothers come faster than anybody, though, and they are quick to tell me what they think she needs. Today, Spencer begged to go and get her out of her crib so she could get ready for the day, and so I let him. Not only did he play with her (I heard it all through the baby monitor), but he took it upon himself to change her diaper! Now that's a good helper, and Slade was close on his heels!

Speaking of Scarlet, we have moved on to another phase of hair bows. Check this one out. So hard to resist!

My boys are at the stage where Slade wants to do everything that Spencer does, and Spencer mostly thinks that is okay. The current exciting thing is to sleep together every night. Last week, Spencer wanted to camp out in our backyard. Problem is, we don't have a tent for that, so we compromised and set up the Buzz Lightyear tent in his bedroom.

They were very excited...

This is how they ended up in the middle of the night! I guess the crowded conditions of the play tent could only hold its allure for so long and then they succumbed to the bed.

Days

Well, that is what we have been having....just days. Actually, we have done a lot. Stefan and I went to Mackinac Island for three days for a much needed break from the everyday routine. We had a great time, and after staying a few hours in a craphole of a hotel (Pine Cottage) on the Island...see below, we finished our stay at the beautiful Chippewa on the Watefront. I am sure I don't need to go into detail about how much better the second hotel was. You can tell for yourself by the pictures!

This was the view from our second hotel room...beautiful!

On Sunday, we took all of our kids to see the movie, "Wall-E".

It was really great, and I would highly recommend that you spend the bucks and take your kids or yourselves to see the movie. Spencer just loved it, and Slade does the BEST imitation of how Wall-E says his name. It's really cute.

On Monday, I spent the afternoon at Crittenton Hospital Medical Center, the hospital where my Scarlet was born, because my good friend, Amy, was induced to give birth to her third baby, Dylan Edward. I will spare you all the details, but he was born on Tuesday, July 1, after a long labor in which his poor mother had no pain relief whatsoever. Please pray for him because he is still at the hospital and all of his family is at home without him.

Tuesday, I got to watch my sweet nephew, Carter Kenneth for the afternoon.

The boys were very excited about this! That evening, we went to the Rochester Fireworks. In my opinion, those are the best around, and we go every year. This year we went with my aunt and uncle, Sandy and Jim, and my grandparents, Burnis and Jo. We had fun, and you won't believe it, but Scarlet SLEPT through the fireworks! She is just "made to order" as my aunt said on Tuesday. I was completely amazed by this, as well as very thankful!

Wednesday, we planned to go to Stefan's parent's house in Ypsilanti for fireworks over Ford Lake on the boat, but not even 15 minutes after we arrived to eat there, it started pouring and we had one heck of a thunderstorm for hours, literally. So, they were canceled.

Thursday was a girls' day for me and Scarlet as the boys spent the night and today with their grandparents. I so enjoy being with her, but I did some shopping at two of our favorite stores, and I am not sure she appreciated being in her carseat so long; however, she was incredibly patient and gave me lots of smiles.

Be ever so thankful for your freedom******Happy 4th of the July, as my son says!******
